Payroll Data Services (PDS) was established in 1993 by Dave Jensen. Dave, a CPA by trade, found that he was spending more time on one growing client's payroll than on standard accounting. As he tried to find an established payroll processing company that could handle the clients unique needs, he decided to start his own payroll company. That client was V & J Foods, the nation's largest minority franchise owner. With a total of 140 stores (Pizza Huts and Burger Kings) and over 4000 employees, V & J Foods is still Dave's client today.

Over the next 10 years Payroll Data Services grew and developed a reputation as a company that really concentrated on servicing their clients.  To add to PDS's growth, in June 2001 PDS purchased PAYPRO, the payroll division of the nation's 13th largest accounting firm - Virchow Krause.  Today PDS has over 1500 clients, in 48 states and is the largest independent payroll processing company in Wisconsin and one of the largest in the United States . Our success has been our passion to help our clients succeed.  This philosophy continues to be our driving force today.  With each client interaction, we strive to gain a better understanding of your needs, the industries in which you operate, the challenges you face, and your goals for your future. 

Payroll Data's success is also due in part by hiring the right people to service our clients.  Our service team has an average of 15 years in the industry, making them some of the most tenured service professionals in the field.  Our Payroll Specialists are not Data Entry people but professionals with payroll certifications from American Payroll Association and/or 10, 15 and even 20 years of experience. When you talk to a PDS Payroll Specialist you are talking to a person who really understands payroll.

From a technology standpoint, Payroll Data was one of the first service bureau's to offer a completely integrated web-based payroll, HR, and self-service application in January 2001.  And in 2003 we have added a web-based, fully integrated, enterprise time and attendance solution to round out our product offering. Our clients have found that our services have saved considerable time, offering them the freedom to concentrate their time and energies on growing their businesses.
